Are you tired of those annoying ads and hyperlinks sponsored by random sponsors? Then, here’s what you should know:
The random sponsor you’re seeing is actually an adware program designed to not only place ads wherever applicable, but also turn random text into hyperlinks and show popup ads. The adware usually comes packaged with free software on the internet, but you probably wouldn’t know that beforehand.
First and foremost, remove the adware from your computer, as well as any suspicious programs you see.
Now, here are 3 ways to remove it from your browser, whichever one you’re using.
Step 1: Open the Chrome menu, mouse over “More tools…” and click “Extensions”
Step 2: Locate the offending extension. (It may have a different name, but just find the one extension that has no real icon and you don’t remember installing.)
Step 3: Click the trash can icon next to the extension info to delete it.
Step 1: Open the Firefox menu and click “Add-ons”
Step 2: Delete any malicious add-ons.
3. Internet Explorer
Step 1: Click the gear icon to open the Internet Explorer menu, then click “Manage add-ons”
Step 2: Delete any malicious add-ons. If you cannot do this, you may need to reset Internet Explorer.
To do this:
Step 1: Open the same menu, but click “Internet Options”
Step 2: Open the “Advanced” tab and click “Reset”
Step 3: Check the “Delete personal settings” box and click “Reset”
Step 4: Click “Close” and close Internet Explorer.
