Little House in the Big Woods is an autobiographical novel by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and is the first in the Little House on the Prairie series of books. The book, while fictional, actually reflects many aspects of Laura’s life. The novel describes how Laura’s family prepares for winter, and then their Christmas. Then, it describes the everyday housework and preparation leading up to another winter.
I think the book is a great read for any child who’s into historical fiction. There’s wonderful illustrations, family moments… oh, don’t even get me started on the family moments. The book seriously has a lot to offer.
To sum it up: A great novel for those who are dissatisfied with modern themes. (Read: sci-fi.)
